Lockdown in Osun: Woman Jumps into Osun River over Hunger
Days two of Osun state government lockdown, the Residents Ogo-Oluwa areas in Osogbo, Osun State capital were thrown into shock after a woman jumps into the river around Gbodofon area, Gbongan-Ibadan road, Osogbo, as a result of hunger.
According to an eyewitness, said the woman who identified herself as Kafayat Alake jumped into the river is as a result of hunger as the state goes on total lockdown.
Residents of the area who said that the strange movement of the woman on the bridge drew their attention before she eventually jumped into the river.
According eyewitness, the woman, who dressed in blue gown, was trekking and got to the middle of the bridge, climbed the rear and jumped off the bridge.
“It happened so fast that we could not stop her.
She, however, was rescued by some good Samaritans in the area.
Newsflash247 gathered the report that the woman has three children whom she said she could not cater for because she is financially handicapped.
She revealed that her husband stays in Lagos adding that they have separated about thirteen years ago.
Present at the scene of the incident were the chairperson of Osogbo West Osogbo Local Council Development Area, Alhaja Temilade and the state Special Adviser on Public Health, Mr Siji Olamiju.
It was learnt that she has been taken to the hospital for treatment.
Following the two cases of Coronavirus disease were reported in the state on Sunday, now 13 cases, the state governor, Gboyega Oyetola, had announced that the state would go on total lockdown.
Oyetola reaffirmed the commitment to shut down all the land boundaries effective from midnight, Sunday, March 29, with the total lockdown of the state from midnight, Tuesday, March 31.
Commercial motor parks were equally locked in Osogbo.
