Labour-Government Meeting Postponed Due to FEC Clash

The meeting between the Federal Government and the organized labour, comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), has been rescheduled to next week.

The meeting, which was supposed to hold yesterday, was postponed due to a clash with the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

The meeting was convened by the Office of the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, to review the 15-point Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that averted a nationwide strike on October 3.

A source told Vanguard that the government representatives apologized for the mix-up and assured the labour leaders that the meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.

The MOU was signed by the government and the labour unions after a marathon negotiation on October 3.

The MOU addressed various issues affecting the welfare of workers and citizens, such as the removal of subsidy on petrol, the floating of the foreign exchange, and the provision of palliatives.
