Kwara Bye-Election: Police Helicopter Landed In Omu-Aran, Causes Panic Among Residents
Ahead of Saturday’s Bye-elections, a police helicopter was seen hovering around Omu-Aran Town, in Kwara South creating panic among residents.
According to an eyewitness report, the police aircraft hovered for about 20 minutes before landing in one primary school.
On landing, the helicopter was immediately surrounded by 3 police vehicles while items carefully packaged in 5 sacks were offloaded from the aircraft to some vehicles.
This is coming after Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, raised alarm over the influx of suspected political thugs into the state as by-election for a member of House of Representatives to represent Ekiti, Irepodun and Isin Federal constituency approaches.
Mr Ahmed, who declared that the state is under siege, dropped the hint yesterday when he received Concerned Kwara South Youth at the Government House, Ilorin.
The governor expressed fear over the redeployment of Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in the Kwara South senatorial district by the Inspector General of Police, alleging that the IGP’s actions at this critical period called for serious concern.
