Kwankwaso Warns Newly Wedded Couples: Don’t Check Your Spouses’ Phones
The National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has given a piece of advice to the 1,800 couples who got married under the mass wedding scheme in Kano State. He urged them to avoid checking their spouses’ phones, as that could lead to the end of their marriage.
Kwankwaso, who is also the former Governor of Kano State, made this remark at the reception organised for the couples by the State Government at the Open Theatre in Kano Government House on Saturday.
He said that checking spouses’ phones by married couples is one of the major causes of marriage breakups in the modern society, and therefore, they should shun anything that could create conflict.
“You have been advised by all and sundry. I believe you have been advised a thousand times. Ulamas, parents, relatives, and even business people have advised you on how to live peacefully with one another.
“But, I have one single advice for you; that is checking spouses’ phones. Don’t peep your spouses’ phones, as that is the major cause of marriage breakups these days,” he said.
Kwankwaso also praised the political commitment demonstrated by Governor Abba Yusuf for making the mass wedding scheme a reality. He said that the scheme was one of the legacies he initiated when he was the governor, and he was happy that Yusuf continued it.
He also commended Yusuf for committing over N700 million to sponsor over 600 students to various universities outside the country. He said that Yusuf was a good leader who was delivering mass-oriented projects. He called on the people of Kano state to support his administration.
The mass wedding scheme was introduced by Kwankwaso in 2012 to reduce the number of unmarried men and women in the state and to promote social stability.
The scheme provides financial assistance and counselling to couples who want to get married but face economic challenges. The scheme has so far facilitated the marriage of over 10,000 couples in the state.
