Kidnappers’ informant arrested in Ekiti
The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested suspects, Femi Ogunwusi and Akin Ola for alleged impersonation and as well serving as an informant to kidnappers terrorising residents in the state.
While Ogunwusi was alleged of impersonation, robbery and being in possession of prohibited rifles, Ola was nabbed for allegedly providing information to kidnappers who killed a man and abducted two others along Ewu-Ekiti -Ayetoro-Ekiti road last weekend.
Parading the suspect at the Command’s headquarters in Ado Ekiti, on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Abutu, said the man was using the uniforms carrying the insignia of a police Sergeant to allegedly rob and dispossess people of their personal effects.
Abutu said the man was arrested at Efon Alaaye Ekiti on August 6 around 10 pm during a stop and search operation conducted by operatives of Rapid Response Squad(RRS).
He said: “The suspect was in possession of two stolen lorry batteries upon his arrest. During interrogation, Femi Ogunwusi claimed to be a Police Officer but it was later revealed that he was a fake policeman.
“Investigation revealed that Femi Ogunwusi has been indulging in different criminal activities such as snatching of motorcycles and robbing of innocent people of their valuables.”
Abutu added that when the suspect’s apartment was searched, exhibits recovered included: one pistol magazine loaded with thirteen 9MM ammunition, 50 rounds of 9MM live ammunition and two Mobile Police uniforms, among others.

The Police also nabbed one Akin Ola for allegedly posing as an informant to the bandits that attacked one Orisan Oluwasesan and killed him along Ayetoro-Ewu road and abducted his wife and daughter last weekend.
“He was allegedly sighted at the scene of incidence where orisan Oluwasesan, now late, and his family were attacked and kidnapped. Investigation revealed that the suspect has been monitoring the deceased and his family where they lodged at Jolack Hotel, Ayetoro-Ekiti prior to the incident. Investigation revealed that he specialises in providing information to Kidnappers terrorising Ilejemeje Local Government Area of the State and also participate actively sometimes,” he said.
Abutu added that the RRS operatives also nabbed one Segun Adeosun, who allegedly specialised in snatching motorcycles and other valuables from their owners.
The PPRO added that the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
