Keyamo warns aviation CEOs of sack, seeks stakeholders’ backing

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has issued a stern warning to the chief executives under his ministry to perform at their best or face the consequences.

He also appealed to the stakeholders in the industry to support him in his efforts to improve the sector and safeguard his position.

Keyamo made these remarks recently at a one-day stakeholders’ meeting in Lagos, where he shared his vision and plans for the aviation and aerospace industry.

He said that he had signed a performance bond with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who had demanded accountability and results from all the ministers during a three-day cabinet retreat in Abuja.

“I signed my performance bond yesterday. So, if you don’t want me to get sacked in the next few months, you must support me.

“On this side, either I get sacked, or they get sacked. So, it is a race to who will survive. That’s what I have told all my CEOs: somebody must die first, but before I die, I will take you down,” he said.

The minister’s statement comes amid the challenges facing the aviation and aerospace industry, the need for infrastructure development, the regulation of safety and security standards, and the promotion of innovation and competitiveness.

Keyamo said that he was determined to address these issues and transform the industry into a world-class one. He urged the stakeholders to collaborate with him and his team to achieve this goal.
