Kagara Abduction: Buhari abandoned us to our fate – Governor Sani Bello cries out

Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has cried out that the President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government abandoned the state towards the rescue of the 27 students, 15 members of the Government Science College, Kagara.

The governor lamented that the attitude of the federal government towards the rescue of the Kagara students and staff were not forthcoming and encouraging.

He claimed that the federal government had left Niger state to its fate.

Speaking while playing host to former Abia state governor and Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu who paid him a sympathy visit at the government house, Bello said that the federal government had left the state to shoulder all the financial responsibilities which the current spate of insecurity in the state has caused.

He noted that the efforts of the state government towards rescuing the Abductees were not really showing because of the federal government attitude.

He stated that the federal government had sent a delegation to the state and deplored 300 mobile policemen to the state but left the government to shoulder all the financial responsibility.

“So where is the support? At the moment, we have not seen any Federal support here since this incident occurred. Yes, we had a delegation that came to commensurate with, but we are left to ourselves.”

The Governor further stated that the state government will rescue the abducted school children with or without the support of the federal government.

“We will use whatever means and resources available to make sure the children return home safely. We don’t have exact day and when these children will be released but I am very sure very soon.”

The Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu said he was in the state to identify with the government and people of Niger state in this time of trouble.

“We sympathize with you and we share in your grieve at the moment. We know what you are going through and this why am calling on the Federal Government to try to set up a joint security committee in your state to be able to have the representatives of all the forces stationed in the state to complement the existing command in the state,” he said.
