The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kaduna State chapter, has described the recent appointment of sole administrators in four (4) Local Government Areas of Jaba, Kauru, Kajuru and Chikun as illegal and a mockery of democracy.
The state Publicity Secretary of PDP, Abraham Alberah Catoh, said in a statement that, “It is sickening to note that the entire electoral process was subverted and the electorates disenfranchised.”
The party wondered how an appointed Sole Administrator could preside over a council with elected Councillors from different political parties.
“This is the highest level of maladministration of our state by an ‘accidental public servant’.
“Furthermore, the electorates find it very nauseating that the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party that prides itself as a means to ‘Making Kaduna Great Again’ would continue administering the State as if we are under a military rule where marshal law is the order of the day.
“Kaduna State has been militarised, administratively! Moreover, it is an unconcealed bias that, these Sole Administrators are appointed in the PDP strongholds, where the PDP clearly won the elections before the sudden abduction of the Returning Officers.
“The party expressed disappointment that elections were not conducted at all in Kaura local government, the people were completely disenfranchised, with no hope of elections in sight. This is obnoxious!” The party lamented.
The party called on the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIECOM) to hasten its electoral process so as to give the electorates in Kaura local government area the required opportunity to exercise their franchise.
The statement added, “We also call on our supporters to remain calm in all the affected areas as we are doing everything, humanly and constitutionally possible to nip in the bud these calculated attempts by the El-Rufai administration to steal the people’s mandates.”
The PDP also called on the State Local Government Electoral Tribunal to speed up its process of dispensing justice to whom it’s due and to justify the confidence reposed on them by the Nigerian people, ably represented by the members of the National Assembly with the recent passage into law of the States Judicial Autonomy bill.
The party urged all its supporters to rally round the Peoples Democratic Party and continue to support the party in subsequent elections.
