Dino Melaye, Senator representing Kogi West, on Saturday appeared to take a swipe at his political party, describing the All Progressives Congress (APC) convention as “a joke”.
The lawmaker, who is presently not in the country, took to his Instagram page with the handle @dinomelaye, to express his delight at not attending the event.
“Happy to be away from the joke going on in Naija (Nigeria) today,” he wrote.
In the accompanying image, Melaye appeared to be standing next to a UK subway train.
Although he did not mention the APC, the ruling party is holding its national convention today, where former Governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole, emerged the new National Chairman of the party unopposed.
Melaye has repeatedly criticised the APC and recently requested to be allowed to sit with the opposition PDP during plenary.
