Islamic scholar, Sheik Gumi in Niger as govt releases names of kidnapped Kagara students, teachers

Islamic scholar, Sheik Mohammed Guni, met with Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello on Wednesday on the security situation in the state.

Newsflash reported that no fewer than 27 students of Government Science College Kagara, 3 teachers, two non teaching staff and 9 family members of the staff staying in the quarters were kidnapped on Wednesday morning.

It was gathered that the bandits invaded the school around 3 am and killed one of the students.

“At about 3 am last night, bandits attacked Government Science College in Kagara, killing one and abducting an unknown number of students.

“Some staff members, their spouses, children were also abducted by the bandits,” a source said.

Sheik Gumi who was on his way to Kebbi State, told reporters after the meeting that: “the governor and I spoke on several ways to deal with insecurity in a holistic manner and find solutions to the insecurity problem in the state.’

He promised to be at Kagara where the pupils were abducted. Gumi has met with bandits in Kaduna and Zamfara states to persuade them to drop their guns and embrace peace.

Meanwhile, the state government has released names of the students and teachers of Government Science College, Kagara abducted by gunmen.

The names of the abducted students are: Jamilu Isah, Shem Joshua, Abbas Abdullahi, Isah Abdullahi, Ezekeil Danladi, Haliru Shuibu, Mamuda Suleman, Danzakar Dauda, Abdulsamad Sanusi, Bashir Abbas.

Others are Suleman Lawal, Habakuk Augustine, Idris Mohammed, Abdullahi Adamu, Musa Adamu, Abdulkarim Abdulrahman, Abubakar Danjumma, Abdullahi Abubakar, Bashir Kamalideen, Mohammed Salisu, Yusuf M Kabir, Polineous Vicente, Lawal Bello, Mohammed K Shehu, Isah Abdullah Makusidi, Mubarak Sidi and Abdulsamad Nuhu.

The identities of abducted teachers are: Hannatu Philip, Lawal Abdullahi and Dodo Fodio while the non teaching staff are Faiza Mohammed and Mohammed Musa.

The names of abducted family members include: Christiana Adama, Faith Adama, Maimuna Suleman, Nura Isah, Ahmad Isah, Mohammed Mohammed, Khadizat Isah, Aisha Isah and Saratu Isah.

The student who was shot to death by the bandits in the school premises was identified as Benjamin Habila.
