INEC presents a certificate of return to President-elect Tinubu
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has presented the Certificate of Return to the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima.
INEC National Chairman, Yakubu Mahmood presented the certificate of return to Tinubu and Shettima in Abuja on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the President-Elect, Bola Tinubu has said his victory in the just concluded presidential elections is for all Nigerians.
Tinubu said this on Wednesday during the presentation of the Certificate of Return to him and the Vice President-Elect, Kashim Shettima in Abuja.
Tinubu while extending the olive branch to those that lost out in the race urged them to team up with him to build a better Nigeria.
‘I know that some of you did not vote for me and I know how much you must be hurt especially because your favourite presidential candidate is not the one standing here receiving this certificate but I want you to know that my doors are open.
‘My victory is for all Nigerians without tribal nor political party affiliations. I want to assure you most especially the youths that we’ll build a country of our dream together.’
Newsflash Nigeria had earlier reported that the INEC during the early hours of Wednesday declared Tinubu, who is the APC presidential candidate during Saturday’s election, as the president-elect.
Tinubu was declared the president-elect after the 70-year-old polled 8,794,726 votes to win the 2023 presidential election.
The INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, announced Tinubu as the winner at the International Collation Centre in Abuja.
Tinubu won the election ahead of other contenders — the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar; the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi; and the New Nigeria Peoples Party candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
