Ikole-born politician, Aribisogan emerges as the new Ekiti Speaker
Honourable Gboyega Aribisogan, the lawmaker representing the Ikole constituency in Ekiti State House of Assembly emerged as the new Speaker of the house.
Aribisogan scored 15 votes to defeat allegedly the candidate of the wife of the former governor of the state, Hon Bunmi Adelugba of Emure Constituency who polled 10 votes.
The lawmakers in the state elected Aribisogan as the new speaker following the death of Speaker Rt. Hon Funminiyi Afuye after suffering cardiac arrest.
Aribisogan, who hails from Ijesha-Isu in Ikole Local Government Area, was sworn in at the plenary on Tuesday morning by the clerk of the House, Tola Esan.
Recall that Newsflash Nigeria had reported that Afuye who represented Ikere Constituency 1 died on Wednesday, October 19, 2023, at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado- Ekiti, where he was receiving treatment after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Afuye was interred last Friday in his country home, Ikere-Ekiti.
The new Speaker was until his election, leader of the house and the Chairman of the House Committee on Information.
