IGP deploys 17,374 policemen for Ekiti governorship election
Ahead of the June 18 governorship election in Ekiti State, the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman, has deployed 17,374 policemen to the state.
The Interior Minister, Rauf Aregbesola, said adequate security arrangements have been made by the Federal Government to protect lives and property during the June 18 Ekiti State governorship election.
He spoke with reporters in the company of the Inspector-General Alkali Usman, after the National Security Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja yesterday.

Aregbesola said: “Appropriate preparation is put in place for the elections coming up in Ekiti, this month, and Osun, next month, principally by the Nigeria Police and supported by other security agencies, and to some extent, the military. That’s the long and short of it.”
IG Usman, on his own part, said: “As for how many policemen are deployed in Ekiti or Osun, I can say we are deploying 17,374 policemen”.
