How ‘Yahoo boys’ subjected Aso Rock’s assistant director to agony of slow death

The details of how Ms Laetitia Dagan, an Assistant Director attached to the State House, Abuja, was murdered on Monday night, February 17, in her apartment by yet-to-be identified miscreants have resurfaced.

Recall that, Laetitia Naankang Dagan, 47 years old, had been reportedly killed by unknown assailants.

Ms Dagan was said to have been killed in her apartment in Galadimawa, Abuja, on Monday evening shortly after she returned from work

She was said to have left her office in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, about 8 pm while the incident reportedly happened about 11 pm.

A State House statement confirmed the development, quoting the Permanent Secretary, Jalal Arabi, as mourning the deceased.

Arabi was further quoted as telling her parents during a condolence visit that “the Police will fish out the killers of Laetitia and the law will take its course.”

Meanwhile, the Guardian reports that Dagan was murdered by some Yahoo boys living around her residence.

The deceased had reportedly complained that some Yahoo boys around her residence were making her uncomfortable

The development also prompted her to confide in her close friends the plans to relocate. It was also learnt that out of concern for her safety, she opted to report them to the police and the suspected criminals were arrested.

However, it was learnt that the police, rather than take advantage of the report and ensure that the wrath of the law took its full course, later freed the suspects.

The information was allegedly leaked by police operatives to the assailants, who it was learnt, later resolved to take their pound of flesh on Naankang for reporting them to the police.

The assailants, thus, decided to revenge by subjecting Dagan to the agony of slow death.

She was said to have first been tied in her apartment and subjected her to various indecent acts before strangulating her to death and setting the body ablaze.

The newspaper further leant that her gateman who was suspected to be an accomplice in the gory event have been arrested by security operatives and already provided useful information that could help in tracking the killers.

Also, one of the killers took their victim’s mobile telephone, having mistaken it for his and left his own telephone at the crime scene.

The deceased, who hailed from Plateau State, according to a statement by Deputy Director, Information, Mr. Attah Esa, on Tuesday, worked in her State House office on Monday till 8:00p.m only to be gruesomely murdered in her apartment at 11:00p.m by unknown persons.

It is believed that the telephone will also assist the police in tracking down the killers.

According to a statement by the Abuja command’s spokesman, Anjuguri Manzah, the arrest followed a preliminary probe by the criminal investigation department of the force.
