How to Link Your NIN to Your Prepaid Meter and Get KCTs for Upgrading

If you are a customer of Ikeja Electric (IKEDC), you need to link your National Identification Number (NIN) to your prepaid meter and upgrade it with Key Change Tokens (KCTs) to continue loading energy tokens. This is part of a new campaign that started on November 1st to enhance security and improve service delivery.

Newsflash Nigeria reports that IKEDC will send two unique 20-digit KCTs to customers who have linked their NIN to their prepaid meter at smartkyc.ikejaelectric.com/nin. The KCTs are required for upgrading the Standard Transfer Specification (STS) prepaid meters to the latest version.

To link your NIN to your prepaid meter and get the KCTs, follow these simple steps:

After linking your NIN to your prepaid meter, you can purchase energy of any amount to get the two sets of KCTs. You will receive three different tokens to load on your meter: KTC1, KTC2, and your energy token. Input them in that order to upgrade your meter and load your energy.

Note that only landlords can use a single NIN to register multiple meters. Tenants can only link NIN to one meter.

If you encounter any issues with the KCTs, you can contact Ikeja Electric customer care through any of the following channels:

We hope this guide helps you to link your NIN to your prepaid meter with Ikeja Electric and get the KCTs for upgrading. Stay safe and enjoy uninterrupted power supply.
