How Skit Maker Trinity Guy Got into Legal Trouble for Indecent Prank with Young Girl

Nigerian skit maker Abdullahi Adisa, popularly known as Trinity Guy, will be charged in court on June 26 for allegedly s€‎xualising a minor in one of his prank videos.

This was confirmed by the force PRO, Olumiyiwa Adejobi, on Friday while responding to public concerns about the case.

In a now-deleted skit video, Trinity Guy had asked a young girl “inappropriate questions” about his manhood, which the police described as “a clear violation of Sec. 32,35 and 36 of the Child Rights Act of 2023”. The video sparked outrage on social media, with many calling for his arrest and prosecution.

Adejobi had earlier condemned the prank as “child abuse” and vowed that appropriate action would be taken.

On Thursday, the Oyo police command summoned the skit maker and expressed concerns about the skit. Trinity Guy was subsequently set up for interrogation with the state criminal investigation department.

Adejobi said the skit maker will be charged in court on June 26 to serve as a deterrent for other potential offenders.

He said several complaints have been received against him and many groups, NGOs and CLOs are interested in the case.

“We have received several complaints against him, and many groups, NGOs, and CLOs are interested in the case,” the force PRO said.

“There is no sentiment in law like I always say. Others should be able to learn from his actions and inactions.”

According to a statement from the police, Trinity Guy revealed that he had an agreement with the minor’s parents before shooting the skit.

He also claimed that he sought their consent before uploading the skit on the internet.

“In addition, the Skit Maker during the course of the interview provided shocking revelations about the involvement of the minor’s parents before, during, and after the production,” the statement read.

“He particularly emphasized that the consent of both parents was sought before uploading the skit on the internet.”

The police said the minor’s parents, Isiaka Ahmed and Rofiat Ahmed, are also being quizzed by the Gender/Juvenile Related Offences Desk of the SCID alongside Trinity Guy.
