How Peter Obi Rigged Out Atiku Abubakar in Anambra State: Witness Reveals Shocking Details
Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 25th presidential elections, was allegedly cheated out of victory in Anambra state by Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP).
This was the testimony of Ndubuisi Nwobu, a witness of Atiku at the presidential election tribunal on Wednesday.
Nwobu, who is the PDP chairman and state collation agent in Anambra, told the tribunal that there were irregularities and manipulations at different collation centres in the state.
He said that the results announced by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) did not reflect the votes cast at the polling units.
According to INEC, Peter Obi scored 584, 621 votes in Anambra; Atiku polled 9,036 votes; and Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 5, 111 votes.
Nwobu said that after the counting of votes at the polling units, the presiding officers refused to upload the results on IREV, an electronic platform for transmitting results.
He said he visited about 30 polling units out of the 4,720 polling units in the state on election day and witnessed several problems with the presiding officers.
He said he was forced to sign the result sheet of the election at the state collation centre because he would not have been given a copy if he did not. He said he signed under duress and protest.
“I signed the result sheet when it was obvious that without signing, a copy would not be made available to me,” Nwobu said.
“Results were entered at polling units. But, every effort made to get the presiding officer to upload it on IREV proved abortive.”
He said that at the ward collation centres, “magic started happening” and the results were altered in favour of Peter Obi. He said that Peter Obi had connived with some INEC officials and security agents to rig out Atiku in his home state.
He said he had to intervene in some cases to prevent voters and other party agents from attacking INEC officials who were compromised.
“Even in certain instances, I had to intervene to ensure that some of the polling officers were not attacked by voters and other political party agents,” Nwobu said.
Nwobu is Atiku’s eleventh witness to testify before the five-member panel headed by Haruna Tsammani.
