How Nigerian Student Who Won UK Scholarship Died in His Sleep On Day For Travel
A Nigerian man, Okpani Ugochukwu, has passed away in his sleep on Saturday morning, just hours before his scheduled flight to the United Kingdom for his Master’s degree programme.
Ugochukwu had announced on his Facebook page on Friday night that he was ready to travel to the UK for his postgraduate studies in International Relations.
“It’s a wrap. Blessed be God Forever. 22:00Hrs 2go. In Omnia Paratus. Put my name on that wall. MSc mode fully activated. 🛩️✈️✈️🛩️. #International_Relations,” he wrote.
However, his dream was cut short by his sudden death, which shocked his friends and family who had earlier congratulated him on his Facebook post.
They flooded his wall with condolences and tributes, expressing their disbelief and sadness over the tragic incident.
One of his friends, Oyimagada Inya Ken, said Ugochukwu was a dedicated and promising young man with big dreams and full of life.
He said he was supposed to be on his way to the UK for his MSc but his exit has been confirmed.
Another friend, Ginger Eke Collins Ogbonnia, said Ugochukwu was a good man and that they had both carried out many projects together. He bade him farewell and prayed for his soul.
David Azuewah described Ugochukwu as a young soul filled with life that would be sorely missed.
Christain Oko Kelechi lamented that his congratulations message yesterday had turned to RIP today. He said it was a tragedy.
Monica Mma said she thought it was a prank and that she had been waiting to hear it was not true. She said Ugochukwu made a post yesterday and it was not up to 24 hours and he was gone. She wished him to rest well.
According to his Facebook profile, Ugochukwu hailed from Afikpo in Ebonyi State. He studied at Nnamdi Azikiwe University and lived in Awka, Anambra State capital, before he drew his final breath.
