How KillaBoi, the Fugitive Murderer of His Girlfriend, Was Caught in Sierra Leone
Benjamin Nnanyereugo, also known as KillaBoi, was arrested by the Sierra Leonan Police Force on Friday for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Augusta Osedion, in Lagos, Nigeria.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed his arrest and said the Nigeria Police was working on extraditing him to Nigeria.
KillaBoi had been on the run since July 13, 2023, when he was suspected to have murdered Osedion, a 21-year-old lady, in his home at Oral Estate in the Ajah area of Lagos. The Lagos State Police Command had declared him wanted on October 11, 2023, after exhausting all available options to bring him in.
According to the police statement, KillaBoi is 26 years old, approximately 5’9 ft tall and hails from Abia State. He is dark in complexion and speaks English, Igbo and pidgin English fluently. The police had urged anyone who saw him to contact the nearest police station or call 0803 688 5727.
However, KillaBoi had managed to escape to Sierra Leone, where he changed his name to Kanu Princeton Samuel and bought a Sierra Leonean passport for over $25,000. He was trying to survive in the West African country known for its white-sand beaches lining the Freetown Peninsula.
His luck ran out when his photo was posted on social media by Osedion’s family, who were seeking justice for their slain daughter. A Sierra Leonean who recognized him contacted a popular human rights lawyer, Femi Falana SAN, who informed the Lagos Police Command about his whereabouts.
The police then collaborated with their counterparts in Sierra Leone and nabbed KillaBoi at a night club in Freetown on Friday. Hundeyin said the police had commenced the extradition process to bring KillaBoi into custody in Nigeria.
Newsflash Nigeria reports that KillaBoi will face trial for the murder of Osedion once he is extradited to Nigeria. Osedion’s family and friends have expressed relief and gratitude to the police for apprehending KillaBoi and bringing him closer to justice.
