How Egypt Air Disposed of a Nigerian Lady’s Body After She Died on Their Flight
Omotoyosi Remilekun Meshioye was a Nigerian lady who died on board an Egypt Air flight from Lagos to Cairo on Monday, September 4, 2023. She was on her way to London for a business trip when she suddenly collapsed and died in her seat.
According to eyewitnesses, the flight crew tried to revive her but failed. They then covered her body with a blanket and left her on the seat until the plane landed in Cairo. The other passengers were shocked and saddened by the incident.
However, instead of informing her family and the Nigerian authorities, Egypt Air dumped her corpse in Cairo and continued with its normal operations. The airline did not issue any statement or apology for the death of the lady or the way they handled her body.
Her family did not know that she had died until yesterday, September 7, 2023, when they received a call from the Nigerian embassy in Cairo. They were devastated and outraged by the news and the negligence of Egypt Air.
They demanded that Egypt Air should return her body to Nigeria and pay compensation for their loss and trauma. They also called for an investigation into the cause of her death and the conduct of the airline.
They said that if she was an American citizen, Egypt Air would not have treated her that way. They accused the airline of disrespecting and discriminating against Nigerians and Africans.
Omotoyosi Remilekun Meshioye was a successful entrepreneur and a loving mother of two children. She was 37 years old.
