Hilda Baci Spent Over N80 Million on Her Record-Breaking Cookathon Event
Hilda Baci, the Nigerian chef who broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, has revealed that she spent over N80 million of her own money on her cookathon event.
She also denied having any agreement with a brand that accused her of breaching a contract for a meet-and-greet event in Abuja.
Baci made these statements in response to a social media post by a brand called FoodbyHilda, which claimed that Baci had agreed to attend their event and receive N3 million as payment, but failed to show up. The brand also alleged that Baci had used their name and logo without their permission for her cookathon event.
Baci refuted these allegations and said that she had no such arrangement with the brand. She said that she had only agreed to attend the event as a guest and not as a paid celebrity.
She also said that she had not used their name or logo for her cookathon event, but rather her own food brand called “My Food by Hilda”.
Baci further explained that she had spent over N80 million of her hard-earned money for her cookathon event, which lasted for 93 hours and 11 minutes.
She said that she had provided free food and drinks for thousands of people who attended the event, as well as paid for the venue, equipment, staff, security, and other expenses.
Baci said that she was proud of her achievement and thanked her fans and supporters for their love and encouragement. She also urged people to verify facts before spreading false information.
Baci’s cookathon event, which started on May 11 and ended on May 15, 2023, was aimed at breaking the previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes set by Indian chef Lata Tondon in 2019.
Baci cooked over 100 dishes, mostly Nigerian cuisines, and showcased her culinary skills and creativity. She is currently awaiting official confirmation from Guinness World Records.
