Unknown gunmen on Tuesday evening stormed the venue of traditional rulers meeting in Imo State and opened fire on monarchs, killing three of them.
The monarchs were having a stakeholders’ meeting at the Njaba local council headquarters at Nnenasa when the hoodlums struck.
Newsflash Nigeria learnt that other traditional rulers were left with broken heads and hands.
A witness said the incident left those who attended the meeting scampering for safety.
“The gunmen shot sporadically, hitting the traditional rulers in the process and left the scene almost immediately,” the source said, adding that many people were injured.
Meanwhile, the Imo police command confirmed the incident to newsmen.
