Gunmen storm Ekiti farmstead, kidnap four
Unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted at least four people at a farmstead in Ilasa Ekiti, Ekiti East Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday around 1:30 am.
According to Eyewitnesses told Newsflash Nigeria that the gunmen stormed Eti- Ero farmstead in Ilasa Ekiti around 1:30 am and ransacked the place.
He said a child (Yoruba pupil to be 10 years old) and three Ebira farmers were kidnapped and taken to an unknown destination.
He said: “The gunmen came around 1.30 am and started shooting sporadically. The gunshots generated a lot of panic and some brave people among them had to rush out of their buildings and fled into the bush.
“As they were shooting, they were searching all the buildings and in the course of doing the searching, they got home of a child confirmed to be less than 10 years and three others who were farmers.
“They have been taken to an unknown destination and no one has been contacted as of now.”
Meanwhile, Ekiti Police command confirmed the incident to newsmen.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Abutu, said two persons were abducted, not four.
“Even the police have rescued one of the captives from the abductors and one person had been arrested in connection with the midnight raid.

“Our men are searching the bushes for the only person in their custody. We assure the people of Ekiti State that we will get him rescued and the culprits will be arrested to face justice”, Abutu said.
For the past seven days, Ekiti had witnessed at least 10 people were kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
On Saturday, October 2, a lecturer at the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Mr Mayowa Adinlewa, was abducted along Iju-Ikere road in Ikere Ekiti.
Adinlewa, who works with the state university was said to be travelling to Ikere-Ekiti in Ekiti State to see his relatives when he was reportedly kidnapped along with the bad spot on the Akure-Ikere Ekiti road.
On Sunday, October 3, four family members have been abducted along Ado-Ikere-Akure road by unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
It was gathered that incident occurred in between the boundary of Iju in the Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State and Ikere Ekiti in Ikere local government of Ekiti State.
It was gathered that the victims comprised a man and his three children, who were said to be travelling from Ado Ekiti to Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Sunday.
Also, On Sunday, October 3, a timber merchant was kidnapped in Ikole Ekiti, in Ekiti State.
It was gathered the incident occurred on Sunday morning along Ikole – Ara road in Ikole Local government area of the state.
Two weeks ago, toward September ending, two lovers were abducted along Ilasa Ekiti-Ayebode Ekiti road while returning to their base after purchasing some items for their wedding.
The couple were returning from Ado Ekiti, where they had gone shopping ahead of their wedding when they were abducted at a bad portion of the road along Ilasa Ekiti-Ayebode Ekiti Road in the Ekiti East Local Government area of Ekiti State.
Last month, Newsflash Nigeria had reported that kidnappers had abducted a pregnant woman and two others in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
It was gathered the incident occurred at the Goshen Community area, Ajebandele area along Ado-Ikere road in Ado Ekiti.
The kidnappers stormed the Ajebandele area with sophisticated weapons and shot sporadically, causing pandemonium as residents scampered for safety.
