Gunmen Shots APC Chieftain dead In Ekiti
A staunch supporter of the Ekiti governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Kayode Fayemi has been assassinated in Ado-Ekiti just 30 days before the election.
It was gathered that the APC stalwart identified as Olawuyi Aiyegoro (Willy) was shot by unknown gunmen on Wednesday night at Atikankan area of Ado-Ekiti and gave up the ghost early this morning on Thursday.
According to eyewitnesses, two assailants suddenly alighted from their bike and one of them opened fire on the deceased in the head at a close range and fled.
He was rushed to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital in Ado-Ekiti by Good Samaritans where doctors battled to save his life.
Ayegoro, who arrived EKSUTH unconscious, lost so much blood in the attack and died in the early hours of Thursday.
The shooting occurs weeks after Opeyemi Bamidele, a chieftain of the party, was shot during a reception in honour of Kayode Fayemi, APC gubernatorial candidate in the state’s forthcoming election.
The assassination is coming ahead of the Ekiti State governorship election which has been slated for July 14.
News of Aiyegoro’s death has been making the rounds social media with his friends and colleagues in lament.
