Gunmen kidnap passenger in Osun – Ekiti road, others escape into the bush

Unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a traveller in Ede along Ekiti- Osun road while other passengers narrowly escaped into the bush.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Monday evening around 6:00 pm.

It was gathered the victim yet to known boarded from Ekiti to Osun and was forcefully stopped by the gunmen in Ede town, in between Ekiti and Osun while other passengers in the bus had escaped into the bush.

Meanwhile, the Osun State Police command confirmed the incident to the Newsmen in Osogbo, who said the victim was kidnapped by gunmen on Monday evening.

The Police Public Relation Officer in the state, Yemisi Opalola, said the victim was kidnapped in Ede town, near Imesi-Ile in Obokun Local Government Area of the state.

According to Ms Opalola, the interstate bus which the victim boarded from Ekiti to Osun was forcefully stopped by the gunmen in Ede town, in between Ekiti and Osun.

She said while other passengers in the bus had the opportunity to escape into the bush, the victim was unlucky and was kidnapped.

Ms Opalola, however, said the identity of the kidnapped person had yet to be known.

She said the police tactical team and local vigilantes were already on the trail of the kidnappers.

Ms Opalola said that the state Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, had equally directed the police tactical team to ensure the kidnappers were arrested.
