Governor declared elected Councillor wanted over cattle rustling

The Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, on Wednesday, May 13, has declared a councilor wanted over allegations of ‘illegal deals and cattle rustling.’

Fintiri said he needs the Councilor, Makana Enan Ngari, who represents Vulpi Ward in Numan Local Government Area, to answer to the allegations as they violate his oath of office.

A statement by Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou, Press Secretary to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, said the councilor’s action is coming at a time the government had succeeded in stabilizing the area after incessant attacks on villages along the borders of Adamawa and Taraba.

“Government will not hesitate to deal with anyone found wanting no matter his position,” the statement said.

It appealed to the people, especially herders and farmers, not to take laws into their own hands but allow the law to take its course as the government is doing everything possible to ensure that peace prevails between farmers and herders and all law-abiding citizens.

Conflicts relating to cattle are common in Numan LGA, and the residents were beginning to relax after months without such conflicts when gunmen suspected to be herders reportedly struck two villages earlier in the week, killing two people.
