Governor Amosun suspends Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle

The Olu of Ilaro and the paramount ruler of Yewa land, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle has been suspended by the governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

This came as a result of the activities that happened during this year’s celebration of the Oronna day where the Oba Kehinde Olugbenle was said to have acknowledged Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola YAYI who is a native of pahayi in Ilaro as his son.

The governor who was ably represented by the secretary to the state government Barrister Taiwo Adeola was said to have been visibly angry when the paramount ruler echoed that Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola aka Yayi is a true son of Yewa land by calling him “my son”. The SSG when addressing the crowd promised to give an adequate report of what transpired during the event to the governor.

The move to suspend the Kabiyesi filtered into the air when the governor ordered the management of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) to withdraw the honorary title already penciled down for the paramount ruler at the school’s convocation ceremony.

Just a few days ago, one of the closest aides of Gov Amosun, Ayoola Olaniyi had revealed in a Facebook comment that the governor is coming after Oba Olugbenle for daring to call Senator Yayi his son, a development which triggered wide condemnation across the social media.

From the feelers coming in, it is observed that all the traditional rulers are against the suspension and are fully behind Oba Olugbenle because they are fully aware that the governor is making different attempts to gag them and prevent each and everyone of them from identifying with anyone they want to identify with.

It is so unfortunate that Ibikunle Amosun has assumed the role of a dictator in a democratic setting, by coming tough and hard on anyone who his against his political decision, no matter how highly placed such individual. He has forgotten that power is transient and that as a governor, he won’t rule forever.
