Governor Akeredolu suspends Council boss
Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has suspended the Caretaker Chairman of Ondo West Local Government Area of the state, Mr. Ebenezer Akinkuolie with immediate effect.
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, Segun Ajiboye said the suspension was a sequel to series of petitions against Akinkuolie in which he was accused of various offences, including gross misconduct.
The Director of Local Government Administration (DLGA) has been directed to take over the affairs of the local government till further notice.
The Governor has also set up an investigative panel to look into all the allegations levelled against Akinkuolie and come up with an appropriate recommendation on the matter.
According to the statement, Akinkuolie had been ordered to hand over all government’s property in his possession.
The governor warned other political office holders in the State that his administration had zero tolerance for any act that may tarnish the image of the government.
It will be recalled that some party leaders had petitioned against Akinkuolie, accusing him of diverting funds meant for the local government into his private account.
