Gov Masari Receives 344 Abducted Schoolboys in Govt house

In the early hours of Friday, the Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, has received the Kankara abducted schoolboys.

The governor said the abductees will reunite with their families later after medical examination.

Masari said the government would increase security personnel in the schools to avert a re-occurrence.

“We have protected and secured all our schools.

“We are going to increase the number of security operatives in our schools to make sure that we don’t experience what we have experienced in the past six days.

“We want to encourage communities around those schools to form another security unit around the schools,” he said.

The governor said the security agencies did well in securing the areas the pupils were camped.

 “The whole area was secured and cordoned by the security agencies to secure the children. We thank them for the bravery act,” he said.

According to him, the issue of security is a challenge to everyone, saying “we can overcome our insecurity challenges if we all cooperate, unite and provide critical information to the security agencies.

On Thursday night, the state government had confirmed the rescue of the abducted students of Government Science Secondary School in Kankara area of the state.

This was disclosed by Abdul Labaran, the Director General, Media to the Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, confirmed the release of the students to newsmen.

Labaran said the children were being transported from the bush where the bandits released them.

Recall that Boko Haram had last week abducted about 600 students from GSSS in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.

A few days later, Boko Haram had claimed responsibility for the abduction.

Leader of the terrorist group, Abubakar Shekau had said the students were abducted to promote Islam and downplay the importance of western education.

On Thursday, the insurgent released a video claiming it has custody of the abducted students.
