Gov El-Rufai Visits Deposed Emir Sanusi In Awe
Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, on Thursday, March 12 has visited deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II in Awe village, Nasarawa State, who was dethroned over allegation of insubordination.
Recall that Emir Sanusi was dethroned on Monday over alleged disrespect to the office of the governor and other government agencies.
The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, said the removal was with immediate effect.
He said the emir’s action violated the part 3 section A-E of Kano state law, hence the removal. He said the removal was in line with consultation with relevant stakeholders.
The state government immediately named one of the sons of late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, Aminu Ado Bayero the 15th Fulani Emir of the state.
Meanwhile, security sources have it that Governor El-Rufai left Kaduna on Thursday morning to visit the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Daily Trust reports.
This is coming days after Governor El-Rufai appointed the dethroned Emir as the Chancellor of the Kaduna State University (KASU). It was the second appointment for Sanusi from the Kaduna state governor within 24 hours.
The former Emir was earlier appointed as the Vice-Chairman of Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency on Tuesday.
The Special Adviser to the Governor (Media & Communication), Muyiwa Adekeye, in a statement had stated that Sanusi has agreed to serve as Chancellor of KASU and as Vice-Chairman of the board of KADIPA.
It stated that: “The Kaduna State Government has named His Highness, Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Chancellor of the Kaduna State University (KASU).”
“He succeeds the pioneer Chancellor, His Highness, Malam Tagwai Sambo, the Chief of Moro’a, who was appointed to the role in 2005.”
