Google and Verve have partnered to make digital transactions on the Google Play Store easier for Nigerians. This means that Nigerians can now use their Verve cards to make purchases on the Google Play Store, without having to worry about foreign exchange fees or other complications.
As a result of this collaboration, Google and Verve have achieved a significant milestone for both of them. For Google, it means that more Nigerians will be able to participate in the app economy and access the digital content they need. For Verve, it means that they can continue to promote financial inclusion in Nigeria by making it easier for people to use their cards for digital transactions.
Starting from Wednesday (today), Google will process Verve payments within Nigeria and the payments will be undertaken in naira and treated as local transactions by the country’s banking institutions.
This means that Nigerians will no longer have to worry about foreign exchange rates or conversion fees when buying digital content on the Google Play Store.
Google and Verve expressed their excitement about the partnership, saying that it will enable more Nigerians to access the app economy and the digital content they need.
They also said that the partnership will promote financial inclusion and bridge the digital divide in Nigeria.
The Head of Retail and Payment Partnerships, Google Play, Anthea Crawford, said, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Verve, expanding Google Play access for more Nigerians. The introduction of local payments with Verve cards is a significant milestone, enabling more Nigerians to participate in the app economy and access the apps they need.”
The Managing Director, Verve International, Vincent Ogbunude, added, “The integration with Google Play is a significant stride towards achieving Verve’s vision of promoting financial inclusion. We are excited to bring digital content and services closer to Verve cardholders, hence bridging the digital divide.”
The partnership is also good news for the Nigerian economy. By making it easier for people to make digital transactions, the partnership will help to boost the country’s digital economy.
