Five police officers ‘harass’ School principal, tore the dress of female teachers in Ekiti

Five police officers have alleged harassment of the principal and teachers of the Mary Immaculate Girls’ Grammar School in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Friday when the teachers was questioned about the style of officer’s daughter hair-cut which was not in line with the school’s directive.

According to the report, a police officer named Agenoise Elijah was said to have stormed the school with his colleagues on Friday to express his reservations against the school authorities for reprimanding his daughter.

His daughter was said to have come to school with a different hairstyle outside the one prescribed by the authorities.

The officers allegedly harassed the principal, tore the dress of a female tutor, and seized the mobile phone of another teacher.

The ruckus reportedly caused teachers and students to flee the premises.

Meanwhile, the Ekiti police command says it has commenced an investigation into the alleged harassment of the principal and teachers.

Sunday Abutu, the Ekiti command’s public relations officer, gave the assurance that the accused officers “shall not be spared if found guilty”.

“They were said to have harassed the teachers simply because his daughter, who is one of the students, was questioned about the style of her hair-cut which was not in line with the school’s directive,” he said.

“The command wishes to confirm that the police sergeant and his colleagues who went to the school to cause chaos have been identified and discreet investigation has commenced as ordered by the commissioner of police and the officers shall not be spared if found guilty.

“The command is also working tenaciously with the state ministry of education to ensure that no stone is left unturned concerning the case.

“The CP in the state is appealing to those who were victims of the officers’ misbehaviour to be calm and patient as we shall ensure that the investigation process is not compromised.”
