Five governors, other top leaders working for Peter Obi – Labour Party
The Labour Party (LP) says more than five governors and other leaders are supporting its presidential candidate, Peter Obi ahead of the 2023 presidential elections.
The Deputy National Chairman of the party, Bashiru Apapa made this known in Ado Ekiti during a sensitisation programme for LP members at the weekend.
Apapa, who said Obi’s presidential bid was daily receiving overt and covert support across the nation, said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, are afraid of Obi’s recent popularity.
Apapa, however, said the party will not mention the names of the governors for now.
He said, “There are some people who you may not believe are coming up to support Obi; some leaders up to heads of state are in support of Obi.
“Many governors, more than five of them, are supporting the party underneath. We don’t want to mention their names for now.
“It is because of the popularity of the LP now that everybody is embracing the party; definitely, the APC and PDP are afraid.”
Meanwhile, Peter Obi, on Friday night received a shocking reception, at the Dunamis International Gospel Centre vigil in Abuja.
The former Governor of Anambra State has continued to gain popularity amidst the criticisms that his supporters are only on social media.
The entire congregation went agog after the wife of General Overseer Paul Enenche, Becky introduced Peter Obi.
While addressing members of the church, Becky expressed excitement about having the LP flagbearer in the evening service.
She said: “And we also have tonight, Mr Peter Obi who has joined for the service this evening.”
The entire church erupted into clapping and screaming as they cheered him.
While the congregation were still clapping and cheering Obi, Enenche walked up to him and shook his hand.
The presidential candidate holding a Nigerian flag, while on his knees, he prayed for Nigeria.
He said, “God we have no other country except this one, God deliver us, God heal us, God liberate us, we have no nation except this one, God deliver us.”
Obi was on the platform with Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State and the First Lady of Delta State, Edith Okowa and a pastor, who also prayed for Nigeria.
Moreover, Peter Obi revealed the reason he visited Dunamis International Gospel Centre.
The former governor explained that he attended the church to fellowship and thank God.
Obi stated via Twitter: “I spent an uplifting and exhilarating 8 hours of fellowship amongst fellow Nigerians @DunamisGospel 2022 Mid Year Praise and Worship, with @DrPaulEnenche, his family and other dignitaries.
“I used that auspicious occasion to thank God.
“God we have no other nation but Nigeria. Please deliver us. Please save us. Nigeria must not go down. Let your light shine upon this nation.” God is Good.
