Ikere Ekiti, the second largest city in Ekiti recorded a dastardly fire outbreak with over twelve shops razed in a shopping complex and goods valued at millions of Naira destroyed leaving traders in tears.
The fire occurred earning morning on Sunday at a shopping complex located Atiba area near the Ogoga Palace along College of Education Road at about 12.20 am and the other one at Okekere area along Ikere-Ado road.
Newsflash247 gathered that the inferno, which started around 12:20 a.m destroyed about 12 shops.
A security guard at Ogoga Palace said, he noticed the fire outbreak around 1 a.m.
The actual cause of the inferno remained unknown, while those who came to rescue the situation watched helplessly as the fire razed down the shops and buildings.
Some of the shop owners were seen at the scene crying.

Items destroyed include computers, air conditioners, sewing machines, building materials, clothes, refrigerators, typing machines, spiral binding machines, stationeries, power generators, office chairs and tables among other pieces of equipment.
Ekiti National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Head of Operations, Saheed Akiode said the agency contacted the Fire Service after receiving a distress call.
He assured that recommendations will be made to appropriate authorities for assistance to the victims.
