FCT Minister Wike Issues Ultimatum to PDP on National Secretariat and Illegal Land Occupants

The new Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that he will not spare anyone who violates the land laws in Abuja, including his own party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike spoke to journalists in Abuja on Monday, after he took the oath of office as the FCT minister. He said he was determined to restore order and sanity in the administration of the nation’s capital.

He dismissed the rumours that he was planning to target the PDP national secretariat, which is located in Abuja. He said he was only interested in ensuring that all occupants of properties in Abuja had valid certificates of occupancy (C-of-O), which are the legal documents that prove ownership or lease of land.

He said he would not hesitate to take action against the PDP or any other individual or group that was found to be occupying land illegally or without complying with the requirements of the C-of-O.

“I don’t have any personal grudge against anyone. I’m here to do my job and enforce the law. If you have a C-of-O, fine. If you don’t have it, you don’t have it. It’s as simple as that.

“So, if we’re conducting an audit to verify those who have C-of-O and those who don’t, and maybe PDP is one of them, should we ignore them? Is that what you want me to do?” Wike asked.
