Fayose’s son wedding: Don’t die because of any politician – Makinde warns Nigerians

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has warned Nigerians especially the youths against carrying arms in defence of any politician.

Makinde, who spoke in Lagos State on Saturday, during the wedding ceremony of one of the sons of former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, noted that no politician is worth dying for.

He warned Nigerians, especially the youths that no one should lose his life supporting politicians.

Makinde advised people fighting over politics and religion to have a rethink.

He advised those who intend to die because of politicians to have a change of mind.

He then cautioned that as Nigeria moves towards the 2023 general elections, no one should fight or die because of any politician.

“If you look at the former governors in Ekiti State – Governor Segun Oni, Governor Ayo Fayose and the incumbent Governor Kayode Fayemi, they have governed the state at one time or the other but they were not in the same party. So, those of you who want to die because of us politicians, be careful.

“Politics is not something that should cause anybody to lose his or her life. We are moving towards the electioneering period, and I just want to use this opportunity to appeal to you all.

“If you also look at this marriage, the bride and groom are from Christian and Muslim families. So, people who also want to always fight on religious grounds should have a rethink.

“I want to congratulate Olamide and Oluwalonigba. This is the beginning of a journey and I pray that it will produce male and female children”.

Meanwhile, about four current governors and former governors across the country joined other well-wishers to celebrate with the family of the immediate past governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose, whose son, Oluwalonigba, got married to Olamide.

The event drew many important persons to the Monarch Event Center, Lekki, Lagos State.

Those who attended the wedding include Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; four governors; Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State.

Others are former governors Segun Oni of Ekiti State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State, Chief Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom.

The Four Ekiti governorship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); the immediate past Ekiti State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Otinba Bisi Kolawole, Otunba Yinka Akerele, Hon Deji Ogunsakin and other Fayose’s political associates.

The former Osun Senator and 2018 PDP governorship candidate in Osun, Ademola Adeleke, Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Biodun Olujimi; Hon. Ladi Adebutu, are also in attendance.

The event saw the duo burying their political differences to savour the joy of the moment.
