Fayemi Presidential Campaign Posters: Ekiti Assembly Reinstates Suspended Council Chairman

The committee set up to investigate the case of the alleged unsolicited and unauthorised campaign in the media in flagrant disregard to Extant Regulations by Chairman, reported that no case of abuse of office was established on the part of the chairman, hence, its decision to recommend his reinstatement.

The Ekiti State House of Assembly, on Thursday, September 10, reinstated the suspended Ikere Local Government Chairman, Femi Ayodele , popularly known as “Otunba”.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Barister Funminiyi Afuye made the pronouncement at the plenary after going through a recommendation of the committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs headed by Tope Ogunleye.

The State Assembly had suspended the Council boss on August 21 over alleged unauthorised presidential campaign posters for Governor Kayode Fayemi.

Ayodele had sponsored campaign posters canvassing for Governor Fayemi to contest as a presidential candidate under the platform of the All Progressive Congress in 2023.

The posters, shows Governor Fayemi clad in an adorable sky blue Agbada with a blue striped Awolowo cap.

The message on the posters with APC logo reads: “Support His Excellency Dr. John Kayode Fayemi for President 2023.”

Meanwhile, the council chairman reinstated in a unanimously by the lawmakers at the assembly’s plenary presided over by the Speaker Funminiyi Afuye on Thursday.

The reinstatement followed the adoption of the report of the House Joint Committees on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs at the plenary presided over by the Speaker of the House, Funminiyi Afuye.

The House at its Thursday’s plenary passed two amended laws namely: “Ekiti Gender-Based Violence Prohibition, (First Amendment) Bill, 2020 and Ekiti Property Protection (Anti Land Grabbing) First Amendment Bill,2020.

The amendment to the two principal laws was sponsored by Mr Adeoye Aribasoye, (APC, Ikole 2) which
proposed equal punishment of life imprisonment for an individual who rapes and those who gang raped.

The House also adopted the report of its Committee on Environment for the repeal of the Environmental Health and Sanitation Law, No. 4,2004 and the reenactment of Environmental Health and Sanitation Law, 2020.

The report was submitted by its Chairman, Mr Tunde Idowu, and the House then adjourned until Tuesday, Sept. 15

Moreover, the state governor, Kayode Fayemi has appointed four permanent secretaries in the state’s civil service.

In a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Yinka Oyebode said:

“In furtherance of his drive to reposition the administration for effective service delivery, Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has approved the appointment of four Permanent Secretaries in the state’s civil service.

“The Governor also approved the appointment of one General Manager and two Executive Secretaries.

The new Permanent Secretaries are:

1. Mr. Samson Tayo Olauyi

2. Engr. Olugbenga Omoniyi Odesanmi

3. Dr. Michael Ayodele Ibikunle

4. Mrs. Titilayo Olariike Olayinka

General Manager:

1. Mr. Ayodele Oluwafemi Elegbeleye

Executive Secretaries

1. Mrs. Omotola Kikelomo Faseluka

2. Mr. Francis Johnson Adunmo

The appointments take immediate effect.
