Ex-PDP BoT member, Dayo Okondo, dies at 80

A prominent leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Chief Dayo Okondo has reportedly passed on today, February 15.

Okondo, a former PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) member died on Saturday evening, at his country home, Ikere Ekiti, Ekiti State after brief illness.

Okondo, the former Chairman of the State Local Government Service Commission and founding father of the PDP was one of the strong party leaders that brought Ayo Fayose into the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in 2003 and also endorsed him to be the Ekiti state governor in 2003.

He supported him (Fayose) wholeheartedly when others refused to support him and he ensured that he won the keenly contested primaries and subsequently the election in 2003.

Okondo, was also at a time an executive Chairman of Ikere Local Government Council in the Third Republic and there is no doubt, he was one of the best chairman of the local government.

He is aged 80 years.
