Enugu Lawmaker Shot Dead By Gunmen At His Residence
A councillor representing Eha-Ulo ward in Nsukka Local Government Area Legislative Council in Enugu State, Nelson Sylvester, popularly known as Ofunwa, has been killed by unknown gunmen. The incident happened on Sunday night at his residence in Eha-Alumonah.
Sources said the gunmen invaded the lawmaker’s house and opened fire on him.
The councillor, who was wounded by the bullets, tried to escape to a neighbouring house, but he died before help could reach him.
The motive behind the killing is still unknown, but some residents suspect it was an assassination. The incident has caused fear and panic in the town and other nearby communities.
The Enugu State Police Command has not confirmed the incident or made any arrests. The police spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said he had not been briefed on the matter, but promised to verify and get back as soon as possible.
