Ekiti to trace 58 contacts of four new positive cases

The state government also disclosed that two children under the age of 10 were among the four newly-discovered COVID-19 patients in the state.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, who spoke in Ado-Ekiti yesterday when the task force on COVID-19 was giving the update on the pandemic, said: “In the four new cases, there were two children of ages 10 and nine who must have contacted it through the 45-year old doctor and only active case before the new cases.

“They are all in isolation centre. They are responding, doing well, stable and in high spirit.

“With this new development, we have 58 contacts to trace and we have started doing that. Blood samples have been taken and results are being awaited while the contacts tracing also continue.”Yaya-Kolade clarified that Ekiti State doesn’t have community spread of COVID-19, saying: “This is because we knew where the contacts came from.”

“We don’t want to lose such an illustrious son and we are begging the state Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and all the security apparatuses of government to do all within their powers to rescue him alive,” he said.

Meanwhile, Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command, Mr. Sunday Abutu, said the police were not aware of any negotiation on the demand made by the abductors, assure that every security measure would be put in place to secure Olabode’s release.
