Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has revealed exciting news, announcing the commencement of operations at the state’s cargo airport in July 2024.
During his appearance on the ‘Meet Your Governor’ program, broadcasted across all radio and television stations in the state, Oyebanji highlighted the airport’s significance in enhancing transportation and fostering economic development.
The governor emphasized that the airport would play a pivotal role as the terminus for the Ekiti State Ring Road Phase One, showcasing its potential to be a game-changer for business and the local economy. Oyebanji expressed his satisfaction with the upcoming development, adding, “What makes me happy is that the corridor through which the phase one is located will be developed. Besides this, we are also thinking of setting up a new Ado Ekiti town along that axis that can be properly developed.”
In addressing concerns about the deplorable condition of some federal roads in the state, Governor Oyebanji reassured the public that efforts are underway for reconstruction. He shared optimism about the inclusion of these roads in the 2024 Federal Government budget, following discussions with Federal Lawmakers.
Expressing his worries, he stated, “Our people must get this right, we can’t construct these roads because there will be no refunds. But I have sat with our Federal Lawmakers, and they have included some of these roads in the 2024 Budget. I have seen evidence that this has been done.” The governor concluded by assuring citizens that positive changes on the roads are expected within the next few months, backed by the commitment of Ekiti’s legislative leaders.
