A former Banker and vibrant youth, Akinloye Oladele Aiyegbusi, on Thursday, May 10, emerged the candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, for the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti State.
An election was conducted across 177 wards of the 16 local government of the state.
Aiyegusi polled 16,921 votes to defeat other three opponent, his close rival and former Ambassador to Canada, Dare Bejide, who got a total vote of 14,783 and a House of Representatives Member, Hon Olamide Oni who polled 4,252 votes.
Meanwhile, a former deputy governor, Mr Bisi Omoyeni, has boycotted the exercise before the election, citing allegations of fraud and manipulation by the party’s top hierarchy.
Akinloye Aiyegbusi hails from Usin -Ekiti in Ikole Local Government of State.
Aiyegbusi addresses reporters after the declared winner of the SDP, he promises to build a strong economy anchored on sound educational policies.
