Ekiti PDP crisis deepens as Olujimi institutes another Court case to challenge LG, State congresses

Despite last week’s judgment of the Court of Appeal, dismissing the suit filed by Oladimeji Samson Olalekan, on behalf of the group led by the Senator representing Ekiti South senatorial district, Biodun Olujimi against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ward Congress in Ekiti State, there appears no end in sight to the crisis in the party in the State as the Olujimi group is seeking to use a State High Court in Ado Ekiti to nullify the local government and state congresses.

A unanimous judgement read by Justice T.N Orji-Abadua of the Ado-Ekiti Court of Appeal, had on Wednesday upheld the decision of the lower court that the case of the appellant was not justiciable.

The judge stated that the appeallant’s case was centred on internal affairs of a political party.

Apart from the insistence of Senator Olujimi on challenging the last week judgement of the Appeal Court, she is also pursuing another case at a State High Court in Ado Ekiti.

The new suit was filed by Ayo Ibikunle, Pius Elesin and Kola Olowofela, against the PDP National Working Committee.

Also joined as defendants in the suit number HAD/83/2020, were the State Chairman of the party, Otunba Bisi Kolawole, Hon. Kehinde Odebunmi and Senator Hosea Agboola.

Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, has been fingered as the financier of the court cases, which are said to be meant to sustain parallel structure of the PDP in Ekiti State.

All entreaties to Olujimi to support former Governor Ayodele Fayose’s peace efforts have been rebuffed, apparently owing to alleged plot to weaken the PDP ahead of the 2022 governorship election.

Already, a High Court in Ado Ekiti will be ruling on Wednesday, February 3,, on whether or not there is cause of action against the 4th Defendant, Senator Hosea Agboola, who was Chairman of the PDP Caretaker Committee in Ekiti State before the State Congress.

It should be noted that Senator Hosea Agboola, is a right hand man of Governor Seyi Makinde.
