The 2023 House of Assembly candidates in Ekiti State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have begged the leadership of the party in the state to sheath their swords in the interest of the party and its candidates.
The leaders who the PDP Assembly candidates appealed to include the former Governors of the State, Ayodele Fayose and Rt Hon. Odeyemi, the Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District, Biodun Olujimi, Former Deputy governors of the state; Olusola Eleka and Dr Sikiru Tae Lawal.
Others include the PDP governorship candidate, Otunba Bisi Kolawole and other distinguished leaders in the state.
Newsflash Nigeria learned that the Ekiti State chapter of the PDP had been enmeshed in a leadership crisis which has polarised the party with the emergence of two factional chairmen.
The PDP Assembly candidates appealed to the leaders should work together in peace in the best interest of the party, its candidates in 2023 and the suffering masses.
A Communique issued by party candidates sent to Newsflash Nigeria said the duly recognised leadership hierarchy in the party should be respected in line with the party’s constitutional provision and court rulings to avoid political anarchy.
The House of Assembly candidates said they will reach out to notable party leaders in an attempt to broker peace for the progress of the party, the Presidential, National Assembly and State Assembly candidates.
The candidates also appeal to the National Working Committee of the PDP for urgency intervene in the Ekiti State chapter of the party to avoid further disintegration and bandwagon effect this may cause in future elections.
The NWC and other notable leaders in the state should not abandon the Assembly candidates in the state to their fate as witnessed during the 2019 House of Assembly election, the party candidates stated.

- We will work tirelessly for the Atiku/Okowa candidacy in 2023.
- The people of Ekiti are by this resolution pleading with to stay calm and hopeful as the current situation in the state and Nigeria is just for the time being and will soon be fully resolved.
- The unnecessary rancour in the party is condemnable and should forthwith stop in the interest of ALL members
- All party leaders should work out the best measures to resolve internal bickering rather than the use of vulgar language, divisiveness and show of power.
- Members of the PDP in the state should forthwith cease-fire and sheath their swords in the interest of the party, the people of Ekiti and Nigeria.
- HE Ayodele Fayose, Rt Hon. Odeyemi, Senator Biodun Olujimi, HE Olusola Eleka, Dr Sikiru Tae Lawal, Otunba Bisi Kolawole and other distinguished leaders in the state should work together in peace in the best interest of the party, its candidates in the 2023 and suffering masses.
