Last Month, the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose disclosed stipulated age limit qualifications for interested candidates to contest for the positions of Councillor and Chairman must be at least 35 years. He further said, the age limit qualifications for the position of Councillor will be the range of 35 to 40 years while the Chairman will be the range of 35 to 50 years and the party will use option A4 for conducting the primary elections during the interaction with the political shareholders meeting in Jibohu, Ado Ekiti, the State Capital .
After Fayose stipulated the age limit qualifications for contestants on his loyalist members of the People Democratic Party(PDP) for some months ago, some of the contestants that attain more than 50 years of age are moving around the Elders statesman and traditional rulers of the state for begging the governor to leave ban on age limits.
A source revealed that all efforts made by some contestants were abortive. Fayose told some traditional rulers in the state who went begging him for lifting the ban on age limit that, Nigeria needs the youth, Youths are the future of Nigeria tomorrow. He insists that, for any interested candidates to contest for the position of Chairman, he/she must not be more than 50 years of age.
