Ekiti Governor Flags Off Ikere-Igbara Odo Road Reconstruction to Boost Economic Development
Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has launched the reconstruction of the Ikere-Igbara Odo road on Friday, as part of his administration’s efforts to ensure quality and accessible roads across the state.
The road, which is in a bad state, is negatively affecting the optimal performance of businesses in the area.
The governor said that the reconstruction of the road would provide an alternative route to Akure and Lagos and enhance the economic development of the state.
He also said that the road would ease the movement of staff and students of the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere Ekiti (BOUESTI), which is located along the road.
He added that his administration would continue to collaborate with the federal government to maintain and repair federal roads in the state. He said that his administration’s goal is to create a good state road network that would link communities with major roads and facilitate movement around the state.
The governor urged the contractor handling the project to deliver quality work within the stipulated time frame. He also appealed to the residents and motorists to cooperate with the contractor and bear with any inconvenience that may arise during the construction period.
The Ikere-Igbara Odo road is expected to be completed in 12 months. When completed, it is expected to improve the flow of traffic, contribute to economic growth, boost social activities in the area and provide easy access to BOUESTI.
