Ekiti Election: Thousands Rush To INEC Office, Demand Their PVCs

Less than 11 days to the Ekiti State governorship election, thousands of angry electorates are currently at the state headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ado Ekiti, demanding for their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) so they won’t be disenfranchised on the day of the election.

Recall that the INEC had earlier raised the alarm that thousands of PVCs were yet to be collected, but many electorates in the state had also accused some officials of the electoral umpire of selecting which party supporters to give the cards to, an allegation, INEC Public Relations Officer of the state, Taiwo Gbadegesin had denied.

This morning, however, angry electorates have stormed the INEC office, demanding their PVCs and alleging that the umpire was working with the opposition party in the state to disenfranchise them. But the claim has also been denied by INEC spokesman.
