Ekiti Election: Accord Party Dismisses Its Candidate, Support PDP Candidate For Guber Race

Few days to the Ekiti State governorship election, crisis rocked the Accord Party as the NEC executives led by state chairman of the party,Samuel Odeoba declared the full support for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Professor Kolapo Olusola despited the party produces its candidate.

The State Chairman of the party, Samuel Odeoba, said  on Tuesday, July 3, that the party governorship candidate, Surveyor Abiodun Aluko has not been up to the task to campaign towards the July 14 governorship election.

He said Aluko has not prepared to win the July 14 governorship election in the state.

Abiodun Aluko, a former deputy governor of state has emerged the candidate of Accord Party on May 29, 2018 for the July 14 governorship election in the state.

Aluko was defeated by Sunday Balogun in the primary election of the Mega Party. He then decided to join the Accord Party to fulfil his political ambition.

Mr Aluko had earlier decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after Governor Ayo Fayose had backed his deputy, Kolapo Olusola as his possible successor. He had also cited his inability to work with the current leadership of the party in the state.

Mr Aluko also hinted that his loss of the Mega party’s ticket was as a result of attempts by some unnamed persons to deny him a platform to contest the election, which he said he is sure to win.

In a reaction to Abiodun Aluko through the Director Campaign, Dr S O Ogunniyi, said the party demanded N65 Millon from Aluko in writing from our Principal as money they allegedly spent on the party before he became the flag bearer which Surv Abiodun Aluko did not see any evidence on ground and he believed such money should be used to establish structures in all the 16 Local Governments and 177 wards.

This is the press release by Abiodun Aluko

ABIODUN ALUKO CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION.
Our attention has been drawn to the Press Release by ACCORD Chairman, that our Principal, Surv Abiodun Aluko has not been up and doing in his campaign activities towards the July 14 governorship election. Nothing can be further from the truth.

On becoming the candidate of ACCORD on 29th May, we discovered that apart from the State Secretariat and a handful of some people based at Ado posing as State Officers who have no political base, there were no structures of ACCORD in most of the Local Governments and Wards.

It was Surv Aluko that started building these structures. The State Chairman and the so-called leader of the party, one Akogun Banji Ojo, demanded N65,700,000.00 in writing from our Principal as money they allegedly spent on the party before he became the flag bearer which Surv Abiodun Aluko did not see any evidence on ground and he believed such money should be used to establish structures in all the 16 Local Governments and 177wards. That was the source of the disagreement.

Surv Abiodun Aluko remains the ACCORD candidate and all the officers and party members throughout the State remain solidly behind him.

Members of the public are hereby advised to disregard the said claim that ACCORD has adopted another party’s candidate.

Dr S O Ogunniyi
Director General
