The Nigeria police has given a detailed breakdown of how 30,000 personnel were deployed for the July 14 Ekiti state gubernatorial election.
The police spokesperson in Ekiti State, Ikechukwu Caleb who revealed the breakdown said four police officers were deployed to each polling unit.

Numbers of polling units – 2,451
Number of RACS/SUPER RACS – 106
Deployment of RACS/SUPER RACS – 1000
Police personnel deployment per polling unit – 4
Other security personnel deployment per polling unit – 2
Number of personnel to be deployed to polling units – 14,700
1 unit of PMF personnel in each L.GA – 1008
1 unit of PMF personnel in each Area command – 252
Armoured personnel carrier (APC) – 5
Amoured personnel vehicles (APV) – 10
Patrol vehicles – 300
Explosive ordinance – 30 K9 – 30
Helicopters for aerial surveillance – 3 =Grand total of security personnel to be deployed – 30,000.
The deployment of over 30,000 officers to the state has generated a lot of controversies as many are of the opinion that the deployed personnel are too many for a state election.
