Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, on Friday, June 19, has allegedly ordered the executive committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to suspend the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu from the APC in Ekiti.
Sources close to his Ward 8 in Ado Ekiti disclosed on Thursday evening that members of Ojudu’s Ward executive were invited on Thursday, June 18, to the Party Secretariat and were instructed by the party Chairman Mr Paul Omotoso to go and suspend Ojudu.
Ojudu and other party big wigs in the state had taken the party to court challenging the legality of the constitution of the party executive from Ward to State levels.
The case filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja has twice been mentioned in court and adjourned for further hearing to July 6.
Paul Omotoso addressing the Ward executive said he was sent by the governor to instruct them to sack Ojudu from the party.
The chairman of the Exco and majority of those invited were said to have expressed their discomfort at the assignment given to them.
Ojudu , they said, did not offend them but if the State Exco and the Governor has anything against him they should be the one to carry out the suspension. The meeting deadlocked.
Our source however revealed that they have been invited again for another meeting on Monday where it is believed they will be pressured to carry out the suspension.
Ojudu has been very critical of Governor Kayode Fayemi lately describing him as a tin god who has personalized the party and excluded all other party leaders from the activities of the party.
He has also alleged that Governor Fayemi has done little or nothing in the state since he was elected.
It is beloved that the decision to suspend Ojudu from the party is his own way of getting back at him just as Governor Obaseki of Edo State was suspended Comrade Abram Oshiomhole, the Chairman of the party from his Ward, a situation that has engulfed the APC in national a crisis.
